You dream of (but rarely get) places like this in provincial France. One of the latest additions
to the ever-trendy Clerkenwell area, Passage Cafe is a small but cozy bistro/restaurant ("gem" is no understatement)
which exudes oodles of Parisian charm and is tucked away in an alley just north of St John's Square. If you're in
for lunch, the savoury crepes are simply amazing, while the dinner menu is constantly updated but having been several times,
the quality never ceases to impress. For the price (c.20 quid for a splendid 3 course dinner), it's truly a bargain!
The couple who run the business are an extremely smiley bunch and are happy to tailor menus for intimate parties (again,
at extremely reasonable prices). Would definitely recommend for a night out with a close group of friends!

This place is amazing I have just come back from Paris and none of the food was as good as this place and five times
the cost. A remarkable find. I have worked in Clerkenwell for five years and I can say it the best hidden gem by far, I
eat there at least 3 times a week.

This teeny, useful bistro

amenable list of crêpes.

Vegetarians are welcomed with the likes
of endive and walnut tarte tatin and risotto of goat's cheese, tomato and confit onions.
The small kitchen certainly has an experimental side, as shown in a dessert of
banana, beetroot and pomegranate salad. Drinks include three farm ciders, a neat choice of wines, coffee, tea and fruit
juices.
A sandwich-board
outside advertises takeaway specials to local office workers - £5 for a hot steak baguette sure makes the chains
near the station look
a poor second.

"Still not very well-known, this cramped and hidden-away Gallic spot in Clerkenwell was in fact one of the first of the
new wave of London bistros to offer exceptional food at reasonable prices. Food here is so good and too well-priced to ignore
- you might have bavette flambée (£11.00) and frites (£2.00) , for example, followed by chocolate soup
with black pepper ice cream (£4.50), with wines from £16.00 a bottle.
